Rabat and its surroundings by car
The capital suits short hops as well as longer trips:
- The Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan Tower, two landmarks of Rabat's historic centre.
- The Chellah, an ancient site and Marinid necropolis at the edge of the city.
- Moulay Bousselham and the Merja Zerga lagoon, to the north on the Atlantic coast.
- Meknes and Volubilis, the imperial city and the Roman ruins, inland.
Choosing a car in Rabat
Rabat is home to ministries, embassies and company headquarters. For meetings in town, the Mercedes CLA 220 stays discreet and easy to park, as does the Range Rover Evoque. For hosting guests or driving to Meknes and Volubilis, the Range Rover Sport and Audi Q8 give the rear space and comfort you would expect. The Porsche Macan, Maserati Grecale and Maserati Levante appeal to anyone after a sportier SUV for a weekend on the coast.
Short or long rental in Rabat
For a business trip of a few days, the 3-day minimum covers most assignments. For a longer stay, a posting or a family visit, several models move to a reduced daily rate from 7 days. Either way, the deposit is 30,000 MAD and mileage is unlimited: a return trip to Casablanca or a day in Meknes changes nothing in the contract.
