Built for the road south
Our fleet is based at the Casablanca agency (Maarif). The nearest hand-over point to Laayoune is Agadir-Al Massira airport. You collect the car in Agadir and drive yourself down towards the Sahara along the Atlantic. If your only aim is to reach Laayoune quickly, this is not the right option. If you dream of crossing southern Morocco behind the wheel of a large SUV, it is exactly the journey to make.
What the road offers
Leaving Agadir, the scenery changes step by step: Guelmim, long known as the gateway to the desert, then Tan-Tan and the cliff-lined Atlantic coast, before you enter the vast Saharan landscapes. Laayoune itself, with its central square and Foum El Oued beach, is a memorable stop on the way.
Choosing your vehicle
On a route of this scale, comfort makes all the difference. We recommend:
- Range Rover Sport or Autobiography, the benchmark for long stages
- Audi Q8 and Maserati Levante, spacious and quiet
- Porsche Macan or Maserati Grecale for two travellers
All are automatic with unlimited mileage, essential for a trip like this.
Precautions for a long journey
On the Sahara road, towns and fuel stations become fewer and farther between: fill up whenever you can, carry water and keep your documents and the car's papers within reach, as police checkpoints are common in the south. Avoid driving at night and split the route into several stages, with an overnight stop in Guelmim or Tan-Tan, for example. That pace turns the journey into a real discovery rather than an ordeal.
Planning the trip
The minimum rental is 3 days, but a road trip to Laayoune takes considerably longer, both ways. Deposit from 30,000 MAD, or 50,000 MAD for the Autobiography. The car is returned during agency opening hours. Tell us about your route on WhatsApp at +212 646 618 020 before booking.
