Meknes and its surroundings
Start at Bab Mansour, one of the most celebrated gateways in Morocco, then cross Place El Hedim towards the medina. The Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail and the vast granaries of Heri es-Souani show the scale of the old imperial capital. With your own car, the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the hilltop town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun become an easy half-day outing rather than an organised tour. The Audi Q8 is a relaxed cruiser; the Porsche Macan is the driver's choice for the countryside.
Deposit, booking, return
Deposits start at 30,000 MAD, or 50,000 MAD for the Range Rover Sport Autobiography. Book on WhatsApp at +212 646 618 020 with your dates, arrival details in Fes and preferred model. Return the car during agency opening hours at the location agreed at booking.
Meknes, Volubilis and Moulay Idriss in one day
The imperial city lends itself to a loop steeped in history. In the morning, start at Place El Hedim, facing the monumental Bab Mansour gate, then visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail and the Heri es-Souani granaries, reminders of the sultan's ambitions as a builder. After lunch, head into the hills to the Roman site of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its mosaics and triumphal arch. End the day in Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, the holy town spread across a hillside overlooking the plain.
On these rolling roads lined with olive groves, the Porsche Macan delivers precise handling and a pleasantly raised driving position, while the Range Rover Sport suits four travellers with luggage. Both are automatic and come with unlimited mileage, so the detour costs nothing extra in distance.
