Mawazine, Rabat's great music gathering

Mawazine – Rhythms of the World is one of Africa's largest music festivals. According to its official website, the 21st edition took place from 19 to 27 June 2026, with more than 60 artists from around the world and stages spread across Rabat and Salé: Salé, Nahda, Bouregreg, Mohammed V, OLM Souissi and Chellah. For 2026, the festival also announced two new venues in Rabat, the Grand Théâtre Royal and the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium. The dates of the next edition had not yet been published at the time of writing: check mawazine.ma before booking anything.

Why come by car

A festival spread over several stages means an evening that can start on the banks of the Bouregreg and end on the other side of the city. Having your own car lets you choose your concerts without depending on return times, and stay wherever you like, including Casablanca, about 90 km away by motorway. Many visitors combine the festival with a few days on the coast or a trip to Fes, about 200 km away.

Practical tips

  • Plan your parking: the areas around the big stages are very busy on concert nights; it is better to park a little further away and finish on foot.
  • Leave early: traffic towards the main stages gets heavier in the late afternoon.
  • Choose a designated driver for the evening, or ask whether a driver can be offered: this is possible on request, subject to availability.

To arrive in style as a couple, the 2025 Mercedes CLA 220 is available at 1000 MAD/day, and the 2025 BMW 5 Series M Sport at 1500 MAD/day. Pick-up and conditions

Most models can be collected at our Casablanca agency (Maarif) or at Rabat airport, as well as at the airports of Casablanca Mohammed V, Marrakech, Agadir, Fes, Tangier, Nador and Oujda. The BMW 5 Series M Sport is collected in Casablanca, 24/7. The minimum rental is 3 days, which suits a long festival weekend, and a deposit is required (30,000 MAD for the models mentioned).
