In northern Morocco, the Rif mountains hide two wonders best visited together: Chefchaouen, the blue city clinging to the hillside, and the Akchour waterfalls, tucked inside Talassemtane National Park. Collecting your car at Tangier airport

The road to the blue city

From Tangier, allow around two hours to reach Chefchaouen, passing near Tetouan and then through increasingly wooded hills. The final winding stretch is a real pleasure in an agile SUV such as the Porsche Macan or Maserati Grecale.

Wandering Chefchaouen

Founded in the 15th century, Chefchaouen charms with walls painted in every shade of blue, flower-lined stairways and Outa el-Hammam square, overlooked by the kasbah. Late in the day, climb to the Spanish Mosque on the opposite hill to watch the town light up. The region is also known for its fresh goat's cheese, worth tasting locally.

The Akchour waterfalls

About 30 km from Chefchaouen, the road leads to the village of Akchour, starting point of trails along the Farda river. Depending on your energy, choose the walk to the small waterfalls, suitable for most visitors, or the longer hike to the natural bridge known as "God's Bridge". Bring good shoes: parking is at the entrance to the site and the rest is on foot.
