Dakhla, between desert and ocean

Dakhla sits on a long, narrow peninsula, with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and a vast lagoon on the other. This setting, where dunes run down to the water, has made it a renowned kitesurfing destination: the wind blows for much of the year and the lagoon's calm water suits beginners and experienced riders alike.

Beyond the water sports, Dakhla draws visitors for its landscapes. The White Dune, a pale sandbank in the middle of the lagoon, and Dragon Island are among the most photographed spots. The lagoon is also known for its oysters and seafood, and for birdwatching.

What you should know about our fleet

Let us be clear: Dakhla is not one of our pick-up locations. Our cars are collected in Casablanca, at our Maarif agency, and at the airports of Casablanca Mohammed V, Rabat, Marrakech, Agadir, Fès, Tangier, Nador and Oujda, depending on the model. Some models, such as the Land Rover Range Rover Sport Autobiography, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque R-Dynamic and the BMW 5 Series M Sport, are collected in Casablanca only.

Dakhla is a very long way from these cities: more than 1,000 km of road separate it from Agadir, the closest of our pick-up cities. Driving a rental car to Dakhla from our locations therefore means several days behind the wheel in each direction, through long desert stretches. For most travellers, flying remains the most realistic way to reach Dakhla.

If you are set on the great road south

For a long-distance road trip, a large and comfortable SUV is essential:

  • Land Rover Range Rover Sport (2025, diesel): 3000 MAD/day base rate, 2300 MAD/day from 7 days and from 2000 MAD/day from 15 days, with pick-up available at Agadir airport among others.
  • Audi Q8 (2025, diesel): 2100 MAD/day.

All our cars are automatic with unlimited mileage; the minimum rental is 3 days and the deposit is 30000 MAD for both models. Return is during the agency's opening hours at the agreed location. Before considering such a trip, contact us so we can check its feasibility together: it is not something to improvise.

Another option: combine destinations

Many travellers spend a few days in Dakhla and then continue their stay in another part of Morocco. You can then collect your car at Agadir, Marrakech or Casablanca airport to explore the Atlantic coast, the Atlas or the imperial cities.
