First, get safe
A recent, well-maintained car rarely breaks down, but a nail on the road or a pothole gives no warning. Your first move is about you, not the car: switch on the hazard lights, pull over as far from traffic as you can, on level ground if possible, and get passengers out on the side away from the road. On a motorway, wait behind the barrier rather than inside the car.
Spotting a flat tyre
A car pulling to one side, a regular dull thud or a tyre pressure warning on the dashboard should make you slow down at once. Do not keep driving on a flat: the rim and steering can be damaged within a few hundred metres.
Call the rental company before doing anything
Before changing a wheel or handing the car to a garage, contact the rental company on the number given with your booking. They will tell you how to proceed with their vehicle and what solution to arrange. Have this information ready to save time:
- your exact location, ideally shared from your phone;
- the model and registration of the car;
- a simple description of the problem and, if possible, a photo;
- any warning light showing on the dashboard.
Mountains, cold and remote roads
In the Atlas, winter can bring snow and ice, and some roads run a long way between villages. Before such a route, take water, a warm layer and a phone charger, and set off early so you are not stuck after dark. If signal is weak, move to an open spot to call rather than walking away.
Recent cars for peace of mind
Our fleet is made up of 2024 to 2026 models, such as the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque (from 1300 MAD/day) and the Maserati Grecale (from 1800 MAD/day), all automatic and with unlimited mileage. For both models the deposit is 30000 MAD and the minimum rental is 3 days; the excess is 20000 MAD for the Evoque and 45000 MAD for the Grecale. Read your contract carefully when you collect the car so you know what it covers if something happens.
In an accident or any danger, the Moroccan emergency numbers are 19 (police in towns), 177 (Royal Gendarmerie, outside built-up areas) and 15 (civil protection: fire brigade and ambulances).
