A trip worth preparing ahead
From New York, Montreal or Toronto, Morocco can feel far away, yet it is one transatlantic flight away, direct or with a connection in Europe depending on where you start. Casablanca is the most common gateway, and it is also where our agency is based. Sorting out a few points before you leave makes the first days far more relaxed.
Entry formalities
For Canadian travellers, the Government of Canada states that no tourist visa is required for stays of less than 90 days, and that your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your expected departure date from Morocco. American travellers will find the rules that apply to them on the official U.S. Department of State website. Either way, check these rules on official sites shortly before you travel, as they can change.
Dealing with jet lag
After a night on a plane, driving for hours straight away is not a good idea. Plan a first night in Casablanca or your arrival city, and start the longer legs the next day. It is also a chance to get used to local traffic, which is busier in town than on the motorway.
Choosing your pickup airport
Several models in our fleet can be collected at Casablanca Mohammed V airport, as well as at Rabat, Marrakech, Agadir, Fes, Tangier, Nador and Oujda airports, or at our Casablanca agency (Maarif). If your route starts in the south, Agadir is handy for Taghazout or the Souss valley; for the imperial cities, Fes or Rabat may make more sense.
An automatic, just like at home
Most North American drivers use automatics. Good news: every car in our fleet has one, along with unlimited mileage, which matters in a country this size. A few examples:
- Mercedes CLA 220 (2025): 1000 MAD/day, a comfortable sedan for motorway driving.
- Land Rover Range Rover Evoque (2025): 1300 MAD/day.
- Porsche Macan (2026): from 1400 MAD/day for rentals of 30 days or more (base rate 2000 MAD/day).
- Audi Q8 (2025): 2100 MAD/day, with 5 seats for families.
- Land Rover Range Rover Sport (2025): from 2000 MAD/day for 15 days or more (base rate 3000 MAD/day).
The minimum rental period for these models is 3 days, and the deposit is 30000 MAD.
Thinking in dirhams
Our rates are quoted in Moroccan dirhams (MAD). For a stay of two or three weeks, the tiered rates on some models make a real difference, so it is worth comparing before you fix your dates.
A sample route
A first trip might link Casablanca, Rabat and Fes, then head down to Marrakech before ending on the coast in Essaouira. Motorways between the big cities and mountain roads in the Middle Atlas: this is where a comfortable SUV really shows its worth.
