A spiritual gathering in the oldest imperial medina

Founded in the mid-1990s, the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music brings together artists from very different traditions every year: Sufi chants, polyphonies, ritual music from Asia, Africa and Europe. Concerts are held in historic venues such as Bab Al Makina square and in the city's gardens and palaces. The 29th edition took place from 4 to 7 June 2026; the dates of future editions are published on the official website, fesfestival.com.

Fes, a city to explore at your own pace

The Fes el-Bali medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is explored on foot. But a car remains valuable for moving between districts, reaching a riad near one of the medina gates or getting to hotels in the new town. Above all, it lets you leave the city between concerts: Meknes and the Roman site of Volubilis are about an hour's drive away, and the Middle Atlas, with Ifrane and its cedar forests, is an easy day trip.

The road from Casablanca or Rabat

Fes is linked to Casablanca and Rabat by motorway. Allow about 290 km from Casablanca and about 200 km from Rabat. The drive is comfortable and you can stop in Meknes on the way.

For an evening concert, an elegant saloon such as the Mercedes CLA 220 (from 1000 MAD/day) is discreet and easy to park.
